How a large primary school used Wildchld to create the perfect residential trip for their Year 6 students

Year 6 Residential Trip – A Case Study

Year 6 Residential Trip - A case study

De Havilland Primary School were looking for an exciting Year 6 residential trip.  They wanted a camping adventure that would allow their year 6 pupils to enjoy being in nature and experience activities they wouldn’t normally do at school.  They were looking for a residential trip  for their year 6 pupils to celebrate the end of primary school and support them as they transitioned to secondary school.

They found Wildchild after their usual Year 6 residential trip provider couldn’t provide suitable accommodation for the large number of students they would bring.

De Havilland’s Head of Year 6, Helen Hayhoe  explained that “It was a relaxing and lovely experience for everyone because it was so well run by Wildchild’s friendly team.  It was a wonderful way to say goodbye to our year 6 classes”.

Year 6 residential trip - Adventurous Activities

De Havilland were so impressed by the range of activities on offer on their year 6 residential trip that it was hard to pick a favourite.  Some pupils loved the thrill of abseiling and toboganning.  For others the highlight of their year 6 residential trip was being in nature learning bushcraft skills and playing games.

“So many of our children had never been away from home before.  Wildchild gave them the freedom to explore and have fun but it felt very safe”.  Helen Hayhoe

Year 6 Residential Trip - Experienced Instructors

With other previous Year 6 residential trip providers, De Havilland had been left to run activities by themselves.  On their Wildchild Year 6 residential trip, they were amazed that their friendly, experienced instructors were with them from early morning until late in the evening.

Helen explained “The instructors were brilliant.  Nothing was too much trouble.  They were great with the children and had firm boundaries”.

    Repeat booking with Wildchild

The many benefits DeHavilland experienced on their Year 6 residential trip with Wildchild, led them to rebook.  These included:

    • A chance for students to enjoy freedom in a very safe environment.
    • A lovely way to say goodbye to primary school
    • An opportunity for teachers to enjoy spending time with students outside of the classroom.
    • A well run, stress-free residential trip.
    • Easy to get to without a long journey
    • Everything included in the price

“Our children thoroughly enjoyed the variety of activities, which were run by fun-loving team members, who ensured all children were encouraged and safe. We, as a school, would recommend a visit by any school – we were so impressed we have booked again.”
